Construction

Exteriorscapes builds landscapes to last.

The hardscape elements of a garden are often described as its ‘bones,’ and like our bones, a well-constructed foundation supports the longevity and integrity of your design. We believe that durability is a key component of sustainability, and with this in mind we solve problems from the ground up: from a foundation of proper drainage and soils through construction and planting, to the smallest finish detail.

In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.

More than fifteen years of experience with Seattle’s hillsides and saturated soils has allowed us to develop a tested protocol for the responsible installation of patios, walls, outcroppings, decks, fences and other hardscape features. The most critical elements of your landscape construction are those you can’t see, and we’re always mindful that the work that takes place on one property impacts our shared environment.

We proudly practice techniques of old-world craftsmanship in working with natural stone, wood, and metal, and we eschew mass production and a throw-away attitude in favor of excellence and permanence. Our team participates in an ongoing program of continuing education that includes annual traditional stone-building workshops [link to StoneFest] as well as cutting-edge industry training for new technologies. Attention to detail is our hallmark.

“I think the work I had done by Exteriorscapes as the biggest present I ever gave myself. It is certainly the most fun I’ve had on a home renovation project. The pleasure that my husband and I get from our beautiful yard everyday is priceless to me.”
